Taylor's Cut, The Bury, Rickmansworth
Taylor's Cut, The Bury, Rickmansworth

Taylors Cut is a short loop off the River Chess and canal. It was built in the 1840s by John Taylor, a coal merchant who had bought the medieval manor house 'The Bury'. He developed an interest in flour and baking and the cut was created to supply a bakery he built on what is now the car park next to The Bury. The cut is no longer navigable as it passes under Riverside Drive in pipes and The Bury is split into apartments.
