River Chess, Rickmansworth
The River Chess below the playing fields of St Joan of Arc School enters an area once known as the Rickmansworth Meadows. Most of the land has been excavated for gravel leaving small uncultivated strips between lake which are now used for fishing. At the buildings just visible in the distance the river joins the canal system at what was once the town wharf.
